2-6 weeks after your Hair Transplant, your hair will go through a resting period of 4 to 6 months where it falls out – so don’t worry, it’s perfectly normal. 98 % of the patients lose most of their transplanted hairs, just after a few weeks following their hair transplant.
During this time, you might start to panic, thinking that the hair transplant hasn’t worked. But don’t worry because only the ‘visible’ part of the hair will be falling - the roots will remain in place, gathering strength and producing new hairs, an indication of the hair transplant success.
It is important to understand that the“new hair”do not appear “all at once” and that it is a gradual process, maximum results achieved once all the hair has grown to a reasonable length.
Transplanted hair begins to grow first as very fine hair naturally at the rate of 1 cm per month. It often takes 6-9 months before thick hair growth comes through. Some or all of the original hair that was shed begins to grow and thicken. Slight textural change in hair is occasionally present.
After 10 months, up to 90% of the transplanted hairs will be growing naturally and will last for a lifetime as they are largely immune to DiHydroTestosterone (DHT), which is the ‘killer’ hormone found on the top of your head.
You can treat your new transplanted hair as normal and as the rest of your hair!
